More practice

Yesterday and saturday we had 2 more practices. On saturday it was only me, dalbert and calvin, but yesterday, afiq and eric were there too. Our new routine was pretty cool, but fu*king hard to catch the beat coz its so damn fast. Yesterday was very tiring, we started at 4.30 and finished around 7. At around 6.30, i couldn't concentrate anymore, kept getting the moves mixed up. Anyway, after we finshed, we wanted to look for a restaurant where we can have a good meal, we walked up and down the kiarong area. I was getting kinda pissed coz we're weren't going anywhere and we were really tired too. In the end, we followed eric's car to kiulap where he dropped us at ayamku.
So we had our meal at ayamku, it was me, calvin and dalbert once more at that time, afiq and eric went home already. The three of us ordered the same meal, Ayamku Happy if i'm not mistaken, the one with chicken, egg, rice and a drink. After that, we chilled at the arcade in Seri kiulap mall. I played ddr with calvin, it wasn't even 30 secs when the screen showed "GAME OVER". What the heck man.. hahaha.. We were laughing at ourselves coz of that.

Finally here are some pictures from saturday:

On the dance floor again

After being inactive for so many months, we are finally practising again. The practice wasn't really intense as we(me and eric) are just learning the new routine from them(calvin and dalbert). Afiq couldn't make it because he had tuition, Raymond and Shaneel had to study for their O's,so it was only the four of us. We practised at D Music Motion Studio, where we met Joel, Gilbert, Glenn and a few others, they are such nice people. Since we are performing for them, we get to use the studio for free. =) How great is that haha.. But as usual, practice was 30% practising, and 70% fooling around. That's the Bro7herhodz style, unless our mama (none other than Ms Ong) is there, then we start to be serious. If we're not, she'll slaughter us..

Anyway, some pictures we took during and after practice:
waiting for the music
falling down? or doing a move?
Practising, why am i without my shirt? hmm
Ahh, thats better
middle finger? haha. its actually the \/ gesture
More \/ gestures by dalbert
bodybuilder wanna-be.. HAHAHA

What's next for us?

In my previous post, i mentioned about how we're were not performing as a complete crew. That was because Dalbert went to Miri to get his driving license, and Shaneel couldn't perform because he's grounded. So that left the crew with me, Afiq, Calvin, Eric and Raymond. The D Music Motion Studio informed us that a girl invited us to dance for her 18th birthday party, her name was Nabilah. The party was going to be held in Empire on the 3rd of February 2008. The song we used was Show Me The Money by Petey Pablo. Her gift from her father was a Mini Cooper, damn, lucky girl. Haha..

We spent almost one month making a new routine with the help of our instructor Joel, which means Calvin doesn't have to crack his head trying to think of a new routine. We practised a few times each week, and i remember my parents were starting to complain because the practice sessions were at night and also that we werent getting paid. But for us it wasn't about the money, we just wanted to dance.

Finally, the day arrived. Ms Ong bought donuts for us. So nice of her. =) And u can see Afiq gobbling down the donuts.

Then we had our dinner (it was a buffet dinner), soon after that, it was nearing our turn, so we went to the Men's Room to get ready. We changed into jeans and sneakers, but left the formal shirt and tie on. And all that is left now as to wait.

At around 10.30 it was finally our turn. Dennis took a video of us with my camera.

Dance Quotes

Okay, I've decided to take a short break from posting about the Bro7herHodz, so I'll post some dance quotes instead. The quotes i chose are the ones that i felt were meaningful or cool.

"We dance for laughter, we dance for tears, we dance for madness, we dance for fears, we dance for hopes, we dance for screams, we are the dancers, we create the dreams." - Anonymous

"Life is a dance, from one stage to the next." - Anonymous

"To dance is to be out of yourself. Larger, more beautiful, more powerful. This is power, it is glory on earth and it is yours for the taking." ~Agnes De Mille

"The Dancer believes that his art has something to say which cannot be expressed in words or in any other way than by dancing... there are times when the simple dignity of movement can fulfill the function of a volume of words. There are movements which impinge upon the nerves with a strength that is incomparable, for movement has power to stir the senses and emotions, unique in itself. This is the dancer's justification for being, and his reason for searching further for deeper aspects of his art." ~Doris Humphrey, 1937

"Dancers work and live from the inside. They drive themselves constantly producing a glow that lights not only themselves but audience after audience." ~M. Louis

"When in doubt......dance!" - Anonymous

"Dance for yourself, if someone understands good. If not then no matter, go right on doing what you love." ~Lois Hurst

"Dance is your pulse, your heartbeat, your breathing. It's the rhythm of your life. It's the expression in time and movement, in happiness, joy, sadness and envy." ~Jaques D'ambroise

"You can dance anywhere, even if only in your heart." - Anonymous

The Aftermath

During our talentine, our mama, none other than Ms R.Ong, brought people from the D Music Motion Studio to see the whole show and they really liked our dance. From then they gave us opportunities to dance for them and with them. To me, i think we're really lucky that this happened as if it hadn't there would be Bro7herHodz and of course this blog wouldn't exist also.

Our next performance was at the Jerudong Amphitheater and our song was Ooh Wee and Take it to the floor. Before the big day, we polished up our moves at the studio with the help of our instructor Joel (not Joel Kester in case you're wondering =) ). We had so much fun at the Amphitheater, playing hide and seek, walking around, eating nasi katok. Man, i really miss that one.

And below is our video of our performance, enjoy.

After that performance our next performance was the St Andrew's Speech day, but sadly, we don't have any video taken. Its mostly the same as the one above anyway, except for the change in location.

Our Talentine Performance - The start of it all

The Beginning

What is now The Bro7herHodz was previously known as Shuflers. Below is just a little bit about us and how it all started (copied and edited from our friendster profile):

Shufler was formed around early september 2007 for the Sas talentine dance competition.Unexpectedly we got 1st place for talentine. From then, we've moved on since we've found out our hidden talent which we got in us. Each of us possess different strengths in dancing and that i believe, is what makes our crew what it is now.

But now we're no longer called "ShuFler". Now we're the "Bro7herHodz Crew".

Bro7herHodz basically means Brotherhood and the 7 represents the 7 of us. We will maintain our relationship with each other because we are like brothers to each other. So we'll do our best and we're dancing for life.

Crew members : Calvin Dalbert Eric Afiq Shaneel Raymond Arvin
